What is CMU famous for?
Carnegie Mellon is perhaps best known for its computer science program. That said, it is the rare school that is both a top-notch technical school as well as a leader in the arts. Both mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr. (whom the movie Beautiful Mind is about) and artist Andy Warhol are CMU grads.
How hard is it to get into CMU?
The acceptance rate at Carnegie Mellon is 15.4%. For every 100 applicants, only 15 are admitted. This means the school is extremely selective. Meeting their GPA requirements and SAT/ACT requirements is very important to getting past their first round of filters and proving your academic preparation.
